Skandha:

nói các pháp sắc tâm che lấp chân lý: Things that cover or conceal, implying
that physical and mental forms obstruct realization of the truth.
2) Tích tập hay chứa nhóm (ý
nói các sắc pháp tâm lớn nhỏ trước sau tích tập mà tạo ra tính và sắc): An
accumulation or heap, implying the five physical and mental constituents, which
combine to form the intelligence or nature, and rupa.
3) Uẩn chỉ là những hiện tượng
hữu vi chứ không phải vô vi: The skandhas refer only to the phenomenal, not to
the non-phenomenal.
(B) Phân loại Uẩn—Categories of Skandha:
1) Ngũ Uẩn: The five kinds of
skandha—See Ngũ Uẩn.

a) Tứ Uy Nghi—Four forms of
respect-inspiring deportment:

Quật Ma La: Một môn đồ Bà La Môn, người đã tu
tập sai lầm bằng cách giết người và đeo chuỗi được xâu lại bằng những ngón tay
của những người chết, và coi chuyện sát hại người là một hành động tín ngưỡng
linh thiêng. Sau khi ông giết 99 người, người thứ 100 mà ông gặp là mẹ ông.
Trong khi đang đuổi giết mẹ, thì Đức Phật xuất hiện, ông bèn buông tha mẹ mà đuổi
theo Phật. Tuy nhiên, sau vài câu trao đổi với Phật, ông được Phật cảm hóa. Hối
hận vì những tội lỗi của mình, ông bèn xin gia nhập Tăng đoàn. Với thiên nhãn
thông, Phật nhìn thấy cò thể hóa độ được ông trở thành A La hán vì những thiện
nghiệp trong những đời trước của ông. Theo kinh điển Phật thì một ngày nọ trong
khi đang khất thực trong vùng, Phật xuất hiện trước nhà của Ương Quật Ma
La, trong khi ông nầy đang đuổi giết mẹ, khi thấy Phật Ương Quật bèn đuổi theo
để giết Phật. Cứ chạy theo Phật mà không bắt kịp, Ương Quật bèn la to lên kêu
Phật dừng lại, dừng lại ! Phật bèn đáp lại rằng: “Nầy Ương Quật ! Ta đã dừng
lại từ lâu và đang đợi nhà ngươi đây! Tuy nhiên, vấn đề là ngươi không chịu
dừng lại.” Sau đó Phật giải thích cho Ương Quật thế nào là “Dừng
lại.” Cuối cùng Ương Quật hiểu và cải đạo thành Phật tử và cuối cùng sau
khi dụng công tu tập ông đã đắc quả A La Hán—Angulimala—A Brahmin follower who
erroneously practiced by killing people and wore chaplet of finger-bones (the
Sivaitic sect that wore such chaplets), and made assassination a religious act.
After he killed 99 people, the hundredth person he met was his mother. While
chasing to kill his mother, the Buddha appeared, he turned to chase the Buddha;
however, after some conversations with the Buddha, he was converted by the
Buddha. He repented his evil ways and joined the Order—He was a greatest killer
when the Buddha was alive. However, the Buddha with his Buddha eye, foresaw
that this killer had the potential to attain Arhathood enlightenment because of his good karma from previous lives. According to Buddhist sutras,
one day when the Buddha was in the neighborhood to beg for food, he appeared in
front of Angulimala’s house, the killer was attempting to kill his mother , but
he saw the Buddha and decided to chase after the Buddha instead. He kept
chasing the Buddha but in no way he could catch up with the Buddha. He then
yelled at the Buddha: “Gotama, stop! Stop! Stop! He Kept asking the
Buddha to stop. The Buddha responded: “Angu! I have stop for so long and have
been waiting for you; however, the problem is you; you don’t want to
stop.” The Buddha then continued to explain to him the real meaning of
“stop.” He understood and was converted to practice Buddhism and eventually
attained enlightenment.

tu theo Tịnh Độ—The Pure Land Sect believes that there are three types of
laymen; however, only two types of them can benefit from the Pure Land:

sĩ thành tâm thật ý, dù ngu si mê muội thế nào đi nữa, khi nghe giáo pháp mà
hoàn toàn tín tâm chấp nhận và tu tập thì chắc chắn sẽ vãng sanh Cực Lạc: The
first types of those who can benefit from the Pure Land are those who are
completely ignorant and deluded, but truthful and sincere individuals who upon
hearing the teaching, wholeheartedly believe, accept and practice it
continuously.
b) Loại thứ hai có thể được
lợi lạc khi tu theo Tịnh Độ là những cư sĩ có trí huệ thâm sâu và nhiều căn
lành với Tịnh Độ, những người thông hiểu cả lý lẫn sự cũng như công đức đạt
được qua pháp môn niệm Phật, do đó phát nguyện tin tưởng và thực hành Tịnh Độ:
The second types of those who can benefit from the Pure Land are those with
deep wisdom and good roots in the Pure Land method who clearly understand
noumenon and phenomena and the virtues achieved through Buddha Recitation and
who therefore resolve to believe and practice it.
c) Loại thứ ba là hạng cư sĩ
có phàm trí, nhưng không có khả năng hiểu được pháp thâm diệu, mà cũng không có
chút tín tâm nào; hạng nầy chỉ học cho thuộc kinh điển rồi rảo bước đó đây nhàn
đàm hý luận, thì chắc chắn trạm dừng chân kế tiếp sẽ là địa ngục—The third type
of laymen are those with ordinary intelligence, but they can neither understand
profoundly, nor do they have any belief in the Pure Land. They only study
sutras by heart, then going from place to place to enjoy their idle talks,
their next sure stop in the cycle of Birth and Death is “hell.”
